Review the purpose of the paper & the main points, summarizing key aspects of your argument

Structure your paper into 6 sections: (Be sure to number your pages, starting with the
first page of content.)
A. Cover Page: your name and a creative title of the paper.
B. Introduction: introduce the topic of media depiction of the sexes; provide a clear “purpose of paper” statement with a preview of main points; transition into your topic.
C. Content: discuss the topic, working in your theory. You’re building an argument in this paper—an argument that media depicts women, men, or both in a certain way. Use sources from the course to support your argument or claims.
D. Example: explain the song you chose for this assignment; tie it into your content section, as an example supporting the argument of the preceding pages.
E. Conclusion: review the purpose of the paper & the main points, summarizing key aspects of your argument; review key elements within the analysis of your mediated example; then tie the paper together broadly.
F. References: list only those sources cited in the paper, in current APA style.
4. Make sure you site your song in the Reference section, as well as any other outside sources beyond the textbook, if you used any.
5. The written assignment is worth 10 points and will be evaluated on: appropriateness & creativity of media selection; use of sources; depth (if you taught me something); organization; and written style.
6. You may want to follow a “V” shape in constructing this paper. Start at a broad point, such as gender communication in general. Then work more narrowly by discussing gender as communicated via media. Then get even more specific to the music. Once you have made an argument about depiction of the sexes in a particular medium and you are about 4 pages into the paper, transition into an explanation and analysis of your particular song, tying it to the previous argument. Just before you reveal your song, the paper/argument should be at its most narrow point.
