The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) is also known as the “Obama Care” is a significant part of legislation that has had a big impact on the United States healthcare system. It has a wide range of systemic implications on healthcare extending from insurance to ambulatory care, healthcare-related taxes to healthcare resources, and many more. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was made into law on Mar 23, 2010, by the health and Education Reconciliation Act, and on Jan 01, 2014, the individual and employer accountability provision was implemented to include state health insurance exchanges, Medicaid expansions, and individual and small-business group subsidies. The Affordable Act (ACA)’s aim was to reform the United States healthcare system by providing and improving access to high-quality affordable health care, health insurance, and by giving American citizens more rights and protection while lowering health care costs for both the government and the public.
The pros of ACA are that it is affordable for those people who can afford it. Affordable Care Act (ACA) makes it possible for people to receive health insurance by increasing the publicly funded Medicaid program to cover adults within annual incomes, and by creating the health insurance marketplace which permits individual and small businesses to buy private insurance.
The cons are that it is too expensive, and many low-income families cannot afford it. Affordable care is not for low-income families or people with pre-existing medical issues like heart diseases. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is for customers to purchase a more comprehensive coverage package, which might seem to benefit society, the truth behind Obama Care leaves many people with no options that were previously made available to them. Although Obamacare was created to benefit everyone, the truth is that taxpayers will end up paying for what the customer cannot cover. Obamacare is not for everyone, though it seems like it is, and all can afford it, the truth is that all cannot afford Obamacare (Piper, 2013).
