Reflect the aspects of East Asian cultures and values as they have arisen in lectures, readings, and films for this course.
For this assignment, please replot and rewrite the story of Hu or Madame Butterfly. Your rewriting of their life adventure should be significantly different from the original plot, but still within the framework of the cultural exchange between East Asia and the Western world. The length requirement is a minimum of 800 words. Give your story a title and proofread your writing before submission.
Three grading criteria are:

Your story should reflect the aspects of East Asian cultures and values as they have arisen in lectures, readings, and films for this course.
Lack of cultural references or misrepresentation of East Asian cultures will negatively impact your final grade on this assignment.
Coherence, completeness, and originality of the plot:
The plot should be your original creation.
The story should not end abruptly, but instead, reflect intentional and meaningful design on part of the author.
Your writing should be a complete story, not an outline, beginning of a story, etc.
Your story should unfold in a rational/logical way that develops the plot and characters.
(i.e., It should not be a random assortment of unrelated topics and characters)
Writing style
You are NOT graded for perfect grammar/punctuation, but your writing should make use of punctuation, paragraph breaks, etc., as needed.
For example, a story with no punctuation and many run-on sentences may earn less than full points.
Your writing should be clear and easy to follow.
You are encouraged to use a range of literary devices and writing techniques to enrich your story.
