Identify and name the trauma – what happened and what are the characteristics of trauma in your chosen media piece?
How does social identity location impact the way the discourse of trauma is told? Who is telling the story and why? Consider your own positionality – how is this story received by you and how might this impact your ability to facilitate healing?
What inherent biases and presumptions about survivors, their partners, families, and communities are present in the content you have chosen?
Consider what you have learned about the collective histories of oppression and power for marginalized groups of people and its impact on all levels – macro, mezzo and micro – how does this impact the ability and need to enhance resilience of the individual, family and community?
How would you begin to support the individual, family and/or community through this trauma? Name at least one healing-centered practice you can use to begin to support the individual, family and/or community.
