The classroom I’m working in isms. Dawn’s class has a morning and afternoon class. The morning class is preschool and is from age 2.5 – 3. They are a quiet class that needs more guidance with speaking, patterns, colors, numbers, and writing their names. When I came in on my first day, they were set up with the early center, playdough with tools, and a writing center that ms. Dawn is at a craft that was jack and the bean stock for Tuesday because they read the book. They had to cut, color, and glue to work on motor skills, ms. Becky’s (Nsa) teacher was there to help with crafts. After centers, they circle me to sing hello to my friend and pick jobs like friend counter, backpack holder, line leader, song picker. The friend counter counts, and then they count on their hands and air draws the number to see what it looks like. Then they discuss which friends are missing and what their names are to identify after they go outside and play with bikes and on the playground. Then when they come in, wash their hand, grab a snack, and have a more personal conversation with the kids. After snack time, they go to circle time to dance and read the book they are discussing, which is jack and the bean stock. After the story, they go to any center they want and interact with each other, and the teacher plays with them more at the center of their choosing. After the center, they sing the see you soon song while is each kid is leaving.
The afternoon class is much more independent and louder than the age group is 3.5 -5. Their prekindergarten class they are getting ready for kindergarten, so they get a little of projects like they are still doing the same project as morning but they have to cut the the whole castle out and and color inside the line and follower multiply the direction. After centre they go to circle and do the same thing as the morning class but they spell the number out and use addition and subtract to figure out who isnt here. after Centre the do dancing and choose a book they read it and act out the book to help get that group to be more involved. Then they eat snack and after snack they go outside. Then sing the goodbye song.
